As we say farewell to the May Fair this morning, we thought we’d take a look back through the archives and celebrate one of Hereford’s longest-standing traditions 🎡✨⁠

Originally known as St Ethelbert’s Fair, the event dates back centuries and once lasted for 9 days, with the Bishop, Dean and Chapter collecting rent and tolls from the city’s six gates.⁠

Much like the Green Dragon Hotel itself, the fair has been part of Hereford’s story for generations, evolving through the years while remaining at the heart of the city.
